New Year, New Projects

Hi.

It's been a while.

My sister and I have started a new project together:

thosesquares.wordpress.com

Come visit sometime.

And, Blog, I'm sorry I've abandoned you for someone else.  It's not you, it's me; you've been great.
I'm sure I'll come back to you at some point in the future.

Punkin

Pictures from Halloween... can you guess who we are?  MabieGirl went as a toasted marshmallow.

We had a total of two sets of trick-or-treaters this year... that's two more than last year so we're making progress!

Our Halloween evening consisted of dressing up, heading down the street to the local hamburger/beer joint where we were served by two waitresses wearing much better versions of our costumes, and then walking back to our apartment where we cozied up and watched a movie in bed.  Not entirely eventful, but my kind of evening nonetheless.

Colin and I are enjoying life together in our cozy apartment!!  We've gotten in the habit of baking fresh bread every few days so the place constantly smells of baked goods and cinnamon (courtesy of those ever-potent Trader Joe's potpourri brooms).  It's finally a home.  Our home.  And I couldn't be happier.

**"Punkin" is the funny way my dad says "pumpkin;" it's my favorite

That's my girl

My little sister sent me this video of Mabes while I was in class last week.  She miraculously managed to train Mabel to do this trick within the span of 2 weeks (Mabes is on summer break at my parents' house, AKA The Dog Park, with all her little pet friends for the next few weeks).

It's incredible how motivated by food the Mabes is...  Of course I was beaming when I saw it and promptly showed it to at least 5 other people in my class.

That smile of hers kills me.

We're all Big Kids now

Lot's of changes since I last posted... nearly half a year ago??  Sheesh.

We're FINALLY engaged!  (and I've finally posted a picture of the ring)  It's a 1920s vintage filigree ring that I am sooooo(oooo) in love with.

I was so excited to be able to officially sign a letter "Colin and Ellana."

My big sister is pregnant with her 1st baby.  It's a girl!

And Colin's looking super-fresh with a newly-harvested Central American goatee (post-bros' trip) and some cool-kid frames. Pictured here with his best friend and loyal traveling companion, Patty Ciz.

I've got to run off to school now!  The summer session of classes is a lot lighter than the last two semesters so hopefully I'll be able to blog (a little) more.  As you know with me, I  wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.  You can follow me on Instagram though, @thebetties, if you'd like more frequent updates!

With love,
La

Meet Me on Virginia Street

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Turns out physician assistant school is more work than I thought it'd be so I'm afraid blog posts will be few and far between for at least the next year :(  I'm resolving to better balance academics with me stuff, though, so hopefully that will translate to more than one blog post per several months (!)

Guess what?  Colin proposed! So I'm engaged! Yahoo! Pictures of the ring to come in a post that I'll put together following this one...

In the meantime, I wanted to show you photographs of my older sister's vintage ranch house that she shares with her cool-as-a-cucumber firefighter husband, Kevin, their two dogs, Sydney and Onion, their cat, Zuma, and their four chickens, Tippy, Lucille, Frankie, and Maude.

I'm lovin' this linoleum flooring in the bathroom.

Thrifted chair, lamp, and suitcases.

An uncanny resemblance to a little pup I know...
